Regular Session, 2012 SENATE BILL NO. 324 BY SENATOR PERRY COURTS. Provides an automobile expense allowance for the Vermilion Parish Clerk of Court. (8/1/12) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:783(D)(7), relative to the clerk of court of Vermilion Parish;2 to provide for an automobile expense allowance for the clerk of court of Vermilion3 Parish; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 13:783(D)(7) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6 ยง783. Expenses of clerk's office7 * * *8 D.(1) * * *9 * * *10 (7) In Acadia Parish, Iberia Parish, Red River Parish, St. Tammany Parish,11 Tangipahoa Parish, Vermilion Parish, and Washington Parish the clerks of the12 district courts of those parishes may receive an automobile expense allowance equal13 to fifteen percent of their annual salary provided the clerk of court maintains three14 hundred thousand dollars of automobile insurance per accident for bodily injury and15 one hundred thousand dollars of automobile insurance per accident for property16 damage. Clement, Jr. DIGEST Present law provides that in Acadia Parish, Iberia Parish, Red River Parish, St. Tammany Parish, Tangipahoa Parish, and Washington Parish, the clerks of the district courts of those parishes may receive an automobile expense allowance equal to 15% of their annual salary, provided that the clerk of court maintains $300,000 of automobile insurance per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile insurance per accident for property damage. Present law further provides that the expense allowance is to come from surplus funds in each of the offices of the clerks of court and at no additional expense to the state or local governing authority. Proposed law retains present law and adds the Vermilion Parish Clerk of Court to the list of clerks of court who are allowed to receive an automobile expense allowance. Effective August 1, 2012.
