SENATE BILL NO. 372

SCHOOLS. Repeals certain requirements regarding compensation received by certain
school personnel. (gov sig.)
AN ACT1
To repeal R.S. 17:431, relative to certain school employees; to repeal certain requirements2
relative to salaries of certain supervisors, principals, and other administrative3
personnel in certain school systems; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 17:431 is hereby repealed.6
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not7
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature8
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If9
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become10
effective on the day following such approval.11

Proposed law repeals requirement that no parish or city school system in any municipality
having a population of over 300,000 persons according to the latest federal decennial census
pay any supervisor, principal, consultant, secretary or any other administrative employee
charged with the administrative responsibility of a school or other area of academic
concentration or evaluation in such municipality an annual salary which amounts to less than SB NO. 372

the amount that was paid by such school system to that employee in the immediately
preceding year.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
