AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 11:411(11), relative to the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System; to2
provide for system membership; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for3
related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 11:411(11) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง411. Eligibility for membership8
The membership of this system shall be as follows:9

(11) Employees of the Lafitte Area Independent Levee District.11
Section 2. The cost of this Act, if any, shall be funded with additional employer12
contributions in compliance with Article X, Section 29(F) of the Constitution of Louisiana.13
Section 3. Following the effective date of this Act, the governing body of the Lafitte14
Area Independent Levee District may adopt a resolution declaring the district to be a15
participating employer in Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System. Such resolution16
shall be adopted on or before October 1, 2012 and the executive director of the system shall17
be provided with a copy of such resolution. Contributions to the system and accrual of18
benefits shall begin with the first pay period following the system's receipt of the resolution.19
If the resolution is not adopted on or before October 1, 2012, the provisions of this Act shall20
be null and void.21
Section 4. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2012; if vetoed by the governor22

and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,1
2012, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.2
