WORKERS' COMPENSATION. Provides for the licensed vocational rehabilitation
counselor to verify each job identified as suitable and available for the disabled employee.

AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 23:1226(C)(3), relative to vocational rehabilitation in workers' compensation2
cases; to provide for the vocational rehabilitation counselor to verify every job3
identified as suitable and available; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 23:1226(C)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6

(3) The approved vocational rehabilitation counselor shall verify, by his10
signature, that each job identified is suitable for the injured employee and11
available for the employee's return to gainful employment.12

DIGEST
Present law provides that rehabilitation provided to an injured employee shall be delivered
by an approved vocational rehabilitation counselor.
Proposed law retains present law and requires further that for each job recommended by the
counselor, the counselor shall verify by his signature that each job is both suitable for the
employee and available for that employee to return to work.
Effective August 1, 2012.
