BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
PUBLIC CONTRACTS.  Provides relative to electronic bidding on public contracts. (8/1/12)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 38:2212(A)(1)(f)(vii), relative to public contracts; to provide2
relative to electronic bidding; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1. R.S. 38:2212(A)(1)(f)(vii) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as5
follows: 6
§2212. Advertisement and letting to lowest responsible bidder; public work;7
electronic bidding; participation in mentor-protégé program;8

(vii) Public entities must include all bid documents as defined in R.S.13
38:2211(A)(1), on the an electronic website accepting the electronic bids selected14
by the public entity and shall specify such selected website's address in the15
advertisement for bids required by this Section.16

DIGEST
Present law provides that public entities shall provide an option to contractors to submit bids
for public contracts through a uniform and secure electronic interactive system and exempts
certain public entities from such requirement.
Present law provides that public entities have an option to require that all bids be submitted
electronically for any competitive bid advertised for public bid.
Present law provides that public entities must include all bid documents on an electronic
website which accepts electronic bids. 
Proposed law provides for selection of an electronic website by a public entity and provides
that such selected website's address shall be specified in the advertisement for bids required
by this Section. 
Effective August 1, 2012.
