AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 17:1681.1(C), relative to scholarships for children of certain public2
employees; to add children of state investigators killed or permanently disabled in3
the performance of duty; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 17:1681.1(C) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง1681.1. Scholarships for children of police officers, deputy sheriffs, or certain7
probation and parole officers killed or permanently disabled in8
performance of duty; certain other investigative employees9

C. The requirements of and benefits for any child of a law enforcement11
officer as provided in this Section shall also apply to any child of any state12
employee who was or is killed after January 1, 2011, in the performance of his13
duties conducting investigations, serving subpoenas, warrants, pleadings, or14
other orders of the court, or collecting evidence as provided in R.S.15
33:2201(B)(20).16
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not17
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature18

by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If1
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become2
effective on the day following such approval.3
