Provides relative to appointment of an attorney to represent a public institution of postsecondary education in connection with an intellectual property matter. (8/1/12) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 49:258(4), relative to contracting with a private attorney to represent a2 Louisiana postsecondary educational institution in connection with an intellectual3 property matter; to provide an exception from certain procurement procedures; and4 to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 49:258(4) is hereby enacted to read as follows:7 ยง258. DIGEST Present law provides that, to contract for private legal counsel for a state or state agency, such legal counsel must be appointed by the attorney general with the concurrence of the commissioner of administration in accordance with certain procedures. Proposed law provides that exception for the appointment of an attorney to represent a Louisiana postsecondary educational institution in connection with an intellectual property matter.
