AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 37:2804(L), relative to chiropractors; to provide for licensure of2
chiropractors; to provide for criminal background checks; and to provide for related3
matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 37:2804(L) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
§2804. Powers and duties of board 7

L.(1)  The board may require a licensee or an applicant, as a condition9
of licensure to:10
 (a) Submit a full set of fingerprints, in a form and manner prescribed by11
the board.12
(b) Permit the board to request and obtain state and national criminal13
history record information on the licensee or applicant. The Bureau of14
Criminal Identification and Information of the office of state police within the15
Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall, upon request and after16
receipt of fingerprint cards or other identifying information from the board,17
make available to the board all arrest and conviction information contained in18
the bureau's criminal history record and identification files, which pertain to19
a licensee or an applicant for licensure. In addition, the fingerprints shall be20
forwarded by the bureau to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a national21
criminal history record check.22
(2) The board shall treat and maintain a licensee's or an applicant’s23
fingerprints and any criminal history record information obtained pursuant to24

this Subsection as confidential and shall not transmit or otherwise share such1
information with any other party. The board shall apply security measures2
consistent with the criminal justice information services division of the Federal3
Bureau of Investigation standards for the electronic storage of fingerprints and4
necessary identifying information and limit the use of records solely to the5
purposes authorized by this Subsection.6
