DIGEST
Present law provides for the crime of illegal carrying of weapons, which includes the
intentional concealment of any firearm, or other instrumentality customarily used or
intended for probable use as a dangerous weapon, on one's person.
Present law provides various exceptions to the crime of illegal carrying of weapons.
Proposed law retains present law, and further adds a "grace period" of 60 days for concealed
handgun permit holders whose permits have expired by providing that present law relative
to the crime of illegal carrying of weapons does not apply to a person who has been lawfully
issued a concealed handgun permit for a period of 60 days following the expiration of that
permit.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
