Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 80 BY SENATOR CORTEZ AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 33:423.23, relative to the city of Youngsville; to provide for the authority and2 disciplinary actions by the chief of police with respect to police personnel; and to3 provide for related matters.4 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 33:423.23 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง423.23. City of Youngsville; disciplinary action by chief of police8 Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 33:423 or any other law to the9 contrary, in and for the city of Youngsville, the chief of police shall appoint,10 promote, discipline, and dismiss police personnel subject to the budgetary11 limitations of the mayor and city council, pertaining to the number of allotted12 positions of the police department. This provision shall not, however, prohibit13 a police department employee from making a direct appeal to the city of14 Youngsville Civil Service Board, who shall have the authority to modify or15 reverse any actions of the chief of police.16 PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA APPROVED: ACT No. 303
