SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 135

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To designate May 31, 2012, as Retired State Employees Association Day at the Louisiana
State Capitol and to recognize the establishment of the Retired State Employees
Association of Louisiana Hall of Fame.
WHEREAS, the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana was organized
and established as a non-profit organization on November 14, 1966; and
WHEREAS, it is an independent, membership-driven organization representing the
men and women, and their families, who have retired or will retire from employment with
the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana
is to advance the quality of life of current and future retired state employees who have given
of their talents to the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the objective of the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana
is to make a significant difference in the lives and well-being of current and future retirees
by protecting retirement and health benefits; securing cost-of-living adjustments; providing
access to other needed benefits; and keeping members informed through newsletters, website
access, annual chapter meetings, and the statewide annual conference; and
WHEREAS, the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana takes an active
leadership role in the passage of legislation, and joins with the Louisiana State Employees
Retirement System and the office of group benefits to support the passage of legislation
which benefit retirees and active state employees; and
WHEREAS, the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana Hall of Fame was
established to recognize the contributions made by retired public servants to enhance the
role, professionalism, image, and visibility of public service in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, it honors those public servants who have made significant contributions
to the citizens of Louisiana through their public service and community involvement. SCR NO. 135	ENROLLED

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
designate May 31, 2012, as Retired State Employees Association Day at the Louisiana State
Capitol and recognizes the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana Hall of Fame.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
executive director of the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana, Frank L. Jobert
Jr.
