SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 147
BY SENATORS PEACOCK, ADLEY, BUFFINGTON AND TARVER AND
REPRESENTATIVES BURRELL, CARMODY AND SEABAUGH 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend and congratulate Angelo Roppolo on his long and very productive life, his
myriad of long lasting accomplishments, and his contributions to his community and
the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, Angelo Roppolo changed the face of politics in the state, literally; and
WHEREAS, he organized the campaign and helped elect the first African American
judge in Shreveport and in Caddo Parish, the first female judge in Caddo Parish, and the first
female judge on the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal; and
WHEREAS, he served as the Kathleen Blanco campaign chairman for north
Louisiana and was instrumental in electing the first female governor of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Angelo Roppolo was heavily involved in making the annual Red Mass
in Shreveport a successful salute to the legal profession and a special occasion for judges,
lawyers, and law enforcement officials of all faiths to pray together to ask for God's blessing
and guidance; and
WHEREAS, Angelo Roppolo was a founder of the South Shreveport Business
Association, an organization dedicated to the success of businesses in a rapidly growing area
of his community; and 
WHEREAS, Angelo Roppolo has been a confidant to and supporter of entrepreneurs
in Shreveport, helping individuals obtain financing for their ventures with a great number
of these having grown into successful businesses; and
WHEREAS, his guidance and counsel have been sought by private citizens, leaders
in business and industry, and politicians at all levels of local, state, and national government
for more than seven decades; and
WHEREAS, Angelo Roppolo has been modest and seldom takes credit, avoiding the

WHEREAS, Angelo Roppolo is loyal to his friends and true to his core beliefs and
principles and all who know him are better for it.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Angelo Roppolo on his long and very productive life, his myriad of long lasting
accomplishments, and his contributions to his community and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Angelo Roppolo.
