Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 21 BY SENATOR MORRISH AND REPRESENTATIVE GUINN A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Louis F. Gaudet Jr. WHEREAS, it is with great sadness and a profound sorrow that the Legislature of Louisiana and the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the death of Louis F. Gaudet Jr. on January 19, 2012 at the age of eighty-three; and WHEREAS, Louis F. Gaudet was a native of Westwego, Louisiana and a resident of Jennings, Louisiana since 1953, moving from Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, he was a 1941 graduate of Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a 1951 graduate of SLI in Lafayette, Louisiana where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree; and WHEREAS, Louis Gaudet Jr. served his state and his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; and WHEREAS, he received a master's degree in administration and supervision from Louisiana State University in 1958 and he completed his thirty plus graduate hours above his master's degree from LSU and McNeese State University; and WHEREAS, Louis Gaudet Jr. began teaching and coaching at Jennings High School in 1953, where he served as the head basketball coach and assistant football coach, and was named "Coach of the Year" in basketball in 1954 and 1957; and WHEREAS, Louis Gaudet Jr. was named assistant principal of Jennings High School in 1957, where he served until 1963, when he was named principal of Jennings Northside and served there until 1974, when he was named Assistant Superintendent of Administration, and on July 1, 1976, he was appointed Superintendent of Administration; and WHEREAS, Louis Gaudet Jr. was a member of many organizations, including Louisiana Teachers' Association, Louisiana Association of School Officials, Louisiana Association of School Superintendents and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Fraternity; and SCR NO. 21 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, among his many hobbies he loved golfing, hunting, fishing, swimming, and carpentry and was a spectator of athletic events; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon the talents and dedication of educators and administrators like Louis Gaudet Jr. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize and honor the extraordinary life of Louis F. Gaudet Jr. and expresses heartfelt condolences to his family and friends upon the occasion of his death. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Louis F.
