SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 30
BY SENATOR CROWE AND REPRESENTATI VES CROMER AND PEARSON 
LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  Designates April 3, 2012, as "Slidell Ladies for Liberty
Day".
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To designate April 3, 2012, as "Slidell Ladies For Liberty Day" at the Louisiana State2
Capitol.3
WHEREAS, the Slidell Ladies for Liberty (SLFL) is a group of women in Slidell,4
Louisiana dedicated to adopting local soldiers deployed to the Middle East; and5
WHEREAS, the SLFL meet monthly to sort, pack, and ship "We Care" packages6
filled with gifts, letters and various items from donation wish lists created over the years that7
include many suggestions from the soldiers themselves; and8
WHEREAS, the SLFL provide "Homecomings" when their adopted soldiers return9
home whether for R&R or at the end of their tour, inviting the community to join them in10
the special opportunity to fellowship with their adopted soldiers and their families and to11
celebrate their safe return home; and12
WHEREAS, the SLFL is sustained by caring individuals, businesses, civic and13
community partners who eagerly give their time, money, and resources for our service men14
and women; and15
WHEREAS, in addition to sending out "We Care" packages, and coordinating16
"Homecomings" the SLFL has made a difference in the lives of our troops and their families17
by sending letters, cards, and thank you notes to their adopted soldiers; and18 SCR NO. 30

WHEREAS, this appreciation is noted in the words of one first lieutenant who wrote:1
"The gifts and packages received have gone far beyond just improving morale. Your warm2
words and thoughts have also had a significant impact on our hearts and minds"; and3
WHEREAS, the SLFL motto is "Home of the Free BECAUSE of the Brave!"; and4
WHEREAS, the SLFL wants every son and daughter of our nation to know5
unequivocally that their service and sacrifices will not go unnoticed; and6
WHEREAS, the SLFL will stand by their soldiers in this most difficult time, in any7
and all ways that they can, and that no effort will be spared on their behalf; and8
WHEREAS, the Slidell Ladies for Liberty dedicate their work in memory of one of9
their own soldiers, Army Sgt. Patrick O. Williamson, assigned to the 1

 Infantry Division, Fort Lewis,11
Washington who died on October 27, 2009 in Arghandab Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds12
sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an IED, along with Sgt. Fernando13
Delarosa, Sgt. First Class Luis M. Gonzales, Sgt. Dale R. Griffin, Sgt. Issac B. Jackson, Spc.14
Jared D. Stanker and Pfc. Christopher I. Walz, who were all killed in this attack; and15
WHEREAS, the Slidell Ladies for Liberty have purposed that their sacrifice "May16
Never Be Forgotten".17
 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby18
designate April 3, 2012, as "Slidell Ladies for Liberty Day".19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the20
Slidell Ladies for Liberty.21
