Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 32 BY SENATOR CROWE AND REPRESENTATI VES CROMER AND PEARSON A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To designate the week of April 1-7, 2012, as "Junior Auxiliary Week" at the legislature. WHEREAS, the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell, Louisiana, is a chapter of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, Inc., which represents a serious endeavor on the part of women to be active and constructive participants in the community and to assume responsible leadership in meeting community needs; and WHEREAS, the mission of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, Inc., is to encourage member chapters to render charitable services which are beneficial to the general public, with particular emphasis on children, and to cooperate with other organizations performing similar services; and WHEREAS, the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell is a nonprofit organization whose members are dedicated to serving the children, teens and elderly in the community; and WHEREAS, members work actively to perform the mission of the national association in Slidell, as well as other communities; and WHEREAS, the members are involved in projects directed toward enhancing the quality of life for Slidell area children and their families; and WHEREAS, in recognition of education as a means to improve a person's quality of life, the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell grants the Pat Fritchie Memorial Scholarship to four qualified students in Slidell area public high schools in the amount of one thousand dollars each who pursue their education after high school; and WHEREAS, the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell also oversees the "Juniors in Service" program each school year for students who are juniors in Slidell area high schools; and WHEREAS, the program allows those students the opportunity to build leadership skills by completing a minimum of twelve hours of service within the community; and SCR NO. 32 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell is involved in several other community projects, including A Day for Girls' Health; Christmas Under the Stars; Cooking with Care; Child Welfare Project Hearts United; JA Water Day; JA Women's Build; and Literacy Liaison, all of which provide hands-on service to citizens in the Slidell community; and WHEREAS, the members of the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell, through their community service projects, are committed to being active and constructive participants, and to providing responsible leadership to children, teens and the elderly in the Slidell community. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate the week of April 1-7, 2012, as "Junior Auxiliary Week" at the legislature. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
