SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 39
BY SENATOR RISER 
FEES/LICENSES/PERMITS.  Requests the Department of Public Safety and Corrections
to study inclusion of concealed handgun permit number on Louisiana driver's license.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To urge and request the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to study inclusion of2
a concealed handgun permit number on a Louisiana driver's license.3
WHEREAS, R.S. 40:1379.3 requires the deputy secretary of public safety services4
of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to issue a concealed handgun permit to5
any Louisiana resident who qualifies for such permit under the provisions of that Section;6
and7
WHEREAS, any such concealed handgun permit issued must contain a permit8
number, expiration date, photograph, and the name, address, and date of birth of the9
permittee; and10
WHEREAS, a concealed handgun permittee is required to possess such concealed11
handgun permit in order to carry a concealed handgun in the state of Louisiana; and12
WHEREAS, inclusion of a concealed handgun permit number on a Louisiana driver's13
license issued to a Louisiana resident would provide a convenient method for such permittee14
to satisfy the requirement to possess such concealed handgun permit. 15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16
urge and request the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to study including a17
concealed handgun permit number on a Louisiana driver's license, and report its findings and18 SCR NO. 39

recommendations to the Senate Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works1
and the House Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works not later than2
March 1, 2013.3
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the4
the deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, public safety5
services, the commissioner of the office of motor vehicles, and the secretary of the6
Department of Public Safety and Corrections.7
