SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 47
BY SENATORS MARTINY, ADLEY, ALARIO, APPEL, CHABERT, CORTEZ,
CROWE, DORSEY-COLOMB, ERDEY, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER,
JOHNS, KOSTELKA, LONG, MILLS, MORRELL, MURRAY,

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend William Goldring as the recipient of the Times-Picayune Loving Cup for
2011.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and congratulate William Goldring upon
being selected as the recipient of the Times-Picayune Loving Cup for 2011; and
WHEREAS, the Times-Picayune Loving Cup, awarded annually since 1901,
recognizes citizens who have worked unselfishly for the community without expectation of
public acclaim or material reward; and 
WHEREAS, Bill Goldring is the leader of foundations named for his family and
Malcolm Woldenberg, his father's business partner, and has assisted many civic institutions
throughout the greater New Orleans area and beyond to enrich religious, educational, artistic,
and health-related initiatives, by donating millions, through his foundations, to the National
World War II Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, Touro Infirmary, Temple Sinai,
and many other organizations; and
WHEREAS, graduating from Tulane University with a degree in business, Mr.
Goldring has had a very successful career as the third generation to go into the business that
his grandfather, Newman Goldring, founded in 1898; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Goldring is the chairman of the Sazerac Company, a distilling
company that owns and manufactures approximately two hundred brands of spirits, and
Crescent Crown Distributing Company, a beer wholesaler; and
WHEREAS, while many of his cohorts are beginning to settle into retirement, Bill
is ready to carry out his vision for his future and continue to make a difference in his

WHEREAS, Mr. Goldring is married to Jane, and is the proud father of three children
and has four loving grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the talents and
contributions of people like William Goldring; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Goldring is an inspiration to his fellow citizens because of his
generosity and for the contributions he has made in his career of extraordinarily effective
community service, and he merits the highest commendation and sincere congratulations for
his exemplary service and for the tremendous pride and honor he brings to his family,
friends, colleagues, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend William Goldring upon being selected as the recipient of the Times-Picayune
Loving Cup for 2011, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding
achievements and singular contributions, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for
continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
William Goldring.
