SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 64
BY SENATOR NEVERS AND REPRESENTATI VE RITCHIE 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (LFAPA) for its
outstanding achievements and to designate Thursday, May 17, 2012, as Louisiana
Foster and Adoptive Parent Association Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
WHEREAS, LFAPA is the principal membership organization in Louisiana
representing foster and adoptive parents throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, LFAPA's mission is to empower foster and adoptive parents and the
children in their care by providing communication, support, training, and advocacy services;
and
WHEREAS, LFAPA's vision statement is: "Every foster and adoptive family in
Louisiana will have a support system to call upon to strengthen family relationships, restore
enthusiasm, and to create a sense of empowerment when parenting a foster or adoptive
child."; and
WHEREAS, foster and adoptive parents in Louisiana consistently aspire to and
wisely apply the principles of good parenting, excellence, caring, ethics, respect,
communication, accountability, and work together with other professionals in the child
welfare system to achieve optimal nurturing, childcare and functional family structure to the
neglected and abused children in the foster care system; and
WHEREAS, the dedication of the men and women of LFAPA has promoted public
awareness concerning the roles of foster and adoptive parents by making a significant and
positive difference in communities throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the National Foster Care Month, the Louisiana Foster
and Adoptive Parent Association is celebrating another annual legislative day at the capitol
on Thursday, May 17, 2012; and SCR NO. 64	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the dedicated members of LFAPA merit a sincere measure of
commendation from the citizens of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the members of the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association for their
outstanding achievements, does hereby acknowledge and record for posterity their
unwavering commitment to excellence in serving the state's children, does hereby extend
enduring appreciation for the pride and honor they bring to the state of Louisiana, and does
hereby designate Thursday, May 17, 2012, as Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent
Association Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
president of the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association.
