SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 72
BY SENATOR ERDEY 
HOSPITALS. Establishes an advisory group to determine the future utilization of the former
Greenwell Springs Mental Health Hospital facility.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To establish an advisory group within the Department of Veterans Affairs to study, evaluate,2
and make recommendations on the proper utilization of the former Greenwell3
Springs Mental Health Hospital facility.4
WHEREAS, an opportunity to use the former Greenwell Springs Mental Health5
Hospital facility exists; and6
WHEREAS, to study the possible uses of the former Greenwell Springs Mental7
Health Hospital facility is necessary; and8
WHEREAS, the advisory group shall study, evaluate, and make recommendations9
on the future utilization of the former Greenwell Springs Mental Health Hospital facility.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby11
establish an advisory group within the Department of Veterans Affairs to study, evaluate,12
and make recommendations on the future utilization of the former Greenwell Springs Mental13
Health Hospital facility.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the membership on the advisory group shall15
consist of the following:16
(1) The lieutenant governor, or his designee.17
(2) The secretary of state, or his designee.18 SCR NO. 72

(3) The secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, or his designee.1
(4) The secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals, or his designee.2
(5) The state senator for Senate District 13, or his designee.3
(6) The state representative for House District 65, or his designee.4
(7) The mayor of the city of Central, or his designee.5
(8) The executive director of the Recreation and Park Commission for the parish of6
East Baton Rouge.7
(9) The chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College, or his designee.8
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the names of the members on the advisory group9
shall be submitted to the secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs no later than10
September 1, 2012.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the advisory group shall convene its first12
meeting no later than September 15, 2012.13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the secretary of the Department of Veterans14
Affairs shall designate the chairperson of the advisory group from the membership of the15
advisory group.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the advisory group shall provide for the manner17
and frequency of its meetings at its first meeting, and it shall be staffed by the Department18
of Veterans Affairs.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the advisory group shall meet as necessary and20
shall report its findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than February 1,21
2013.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the advisory group shall terminate upon the date23
of submission of its report or February 1, 2013, whichever occurs first.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the25
office of the lieutenant governor, the office of the secretary of state, the office of the26
secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the office of the secretary of the27
Department of Health and Hospitals, the office of the state senator for Senate District 13, the28
office of the state representative for House District 65, the office of the mayor of the city of29
Central, the office of the executive director of the Recreation and Park Commission for the30 SCR NO. 72

parish of East Baton Rouge, and the office of the chancellor of Baton Rouge Community1
College.2
