SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Mayor Wayne McCullen of Natchitoches, Louisiana,
upon his retirement.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and congratulate Mayor Wayne McCullen of Natchitoches upon his2
retirement.3
WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen entered public service thirty-two years ago as a4
councilman-at-large for the city of Natchitoches and served in that capacity for twenty years;5
and6
WHEREAS, he was elected mayor in 2000 and is currently serving his third term;7
and8
WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen will retire on June 1, 2012; and9
WHEREAS, upon his retirement, Mayor McCullen will be the longest serving10
elected official in the history of Natchitoches; and11
WHEREAS, one of the major accomplishments during Mayor McCullen's12
administration is the construction of a second transmission line for the Natchitoches13
municipally owned electric system; and14
WHEREAS, the new 69-kilovolt line will serve as a backup for the existing15
138-kilovolt line that the city currently relies on; and16
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Mayor McCullen, Natchitoches is showing a17
three percent growth in sales tax revenues, as well as growth among small businesses; and18 SR NO. 123

WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen is one of the finest public servants in the history of1
Louisiana and a gentleman whose dedicated and highly productive service has forever2
changed Natchitoches for the better; and3
WHEREAS, the strength of Louisiana's communities and the overall vitality of4
American society depend in great measure upon the intelligence and talent of leaders like5
Mayor McCullen; and6
WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen will always remain an inspiration to his fellow7
citizens for the vital contributions he has made in his long career of very effective public8
service, and merits the highest commendation and most sincere congratulations for his9
exemplary service and for the tremendous pride, honor, and joy that he brings to the city of10
Natchitoches and to the state of Louisiana.11
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana12
does hereby commend and congratulate Mayor Wayne McCullen upon the occasion of his13
retirement, and expresses its enduring appreciation for his distinguished service and tireless14
dedication to the citizens of Natchitoches and the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend15
best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to17
Mayor Wayne McCullen.18
