Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123 BY SENATOR LONG A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Mayor Wayne McCullen of Natchitoches upon his retirement. WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen entered public service thirty-two years ago as a councilman-at-large for the city of Natchitoches and served in that capacity for twenty years; and WHEREAS, he was elected mayor in 2000 and is currently serving his third term; and WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen will retire on June 1, 2012; and WHEREAS, upon his retirement, Mayor McCullen will be the longest serving elected official in the history of Natchitoches; and WHEREAS, one of the major accomplishments during Mayor McCullen's administration is the construction of a second transmission line for the Natchitoches municipally owned electric system; and WHEREAS, the new 69-kilovolt line will serve as a backup for the existing 138-kilovolt line that the city currently relies on; and WHEREAS, under the leadership of Mayor McCullen, Natchitoches is showing a three percent growth in sales tax revenues, as well as growth among small businesses; and WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen is one of the finest public servants in the history of Louisiana and a gentleman whose dedicated and highly productive service has forever changed Natchitoches for the better; and WHEREAS, the strength of Louisiana's communities and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon the intelligence and talent of leaders like Mayor McCullen; and SR NO. 123 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Mayor McCullen will always remain an inspiration to his fellow citizens for the vital contributions he has made in his long career of very effective public service, and merits the highest commendation and most sincere congratulations for his exemplary service and for the tremendous pride, honor, and joy that he brings to the city of Natchitoches and to the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Mayor Wayne McCullen upon the occasion of his retirement, and expresses its enduring appreciation for his distinguished service and tireless dedication to the citizens of Natchitoches and the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mayor Wayne McCullen. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
