Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 143 BY SENATORS MURRAY, ADLEY, ALARIO, ALLAIN, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, BROWN, BUFFINGTON, CHABERT, CLAITOR, CORTEZ, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY-COLOMB, ERDEY, GALLOT, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JOHNS, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH, NEVERS, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHI TE A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Federal Magistrate Judge Louis Moore Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana for his exemplary public service during his extraordinary career as a member of the bar and the judiciary on the occasion of his retirement. WHEREAS, Federal Magistrate Judge Louis Moore Jr. is a graduate of Southern University Law Center, where he obtained a Juris Doctor degree in 1972, after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Southern University in 1969; and WHEREAS, prior to his appointment as Magistrate Judge, he served as Judge Pro Tempore for the Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit, State of Louisiana; as Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, where he was Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division and Chief of the General Crimes Division; as Assistant Federal Public Defender; as Assistant District Attorney for Orleans Parish; and, as an investigator for the Orleans Parish Indigent Defender Program; and WHEREAS, he was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and currently resides in New Orleans with his wife and they have two adult children and five grandchildren; and WHEREAS, he has served as a Federal Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana since May 1985. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Federal Magistrate Judge Louis Moore Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana for his dedicated public service and acknowledge with tremendous gratitude his outstanding contribution to the administration of justice in his community, on the occasion of his retirement.
