SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 150
BY SENATOR HEITMEIER 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, executive governor of Kwara State, the Federal
Republic of Nigeria, and invite him to visit the state of Louisiana to promote
commerce and trade between Kwara State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the
state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, Kwara State, also known as "the State of Harmony", is one of the thirty-
six states that make up the Federal Republic of Nigeria; and
WHEREAS, Kwara State is known for its peaceful character, its innovation, and its
strong educational sector; and
WHEREAS, the New Nigerian Farmers initiative has its home in Kwara State; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the United States' largest trading
partner in sub-Saharan Africa, with the Federal Republic of Nigeria supplying nearly eight
percent of the United States oil imports; and
WHEREAS, the United States is the largest foreign investor in the Federal Republic
of Nigeria; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Republic of Nigeria was the United States' twenty-first
largest goods trading partner with approximately thirty-four billion six hundred million
dollars in total goods traded during 2010; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Republic of Nigeria was the United States' thirteenth largest
supplier of goods imports in 2010.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, executive governor of Kwara State, the
Federal Republic of Nigeria, and does hereby invite him to visit the state of Louisiana to
promote commerce and trade between the Kwara State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
and the state of Louisiana. SR NO. 150	ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, executive governor of Kwara State, the Federal Republic of
Nigeria.
