SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 195

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT. Requests the Senate Committee on Education to study and
make recommendations relative to the providing salary increases as provided in existing law
to teachers and other certificated school employees who earn national board certification.
A RESOLUTION1
To urge and request the Senate Committee on Education to study and make2
recommendations relative to providing salary increases as provided in existing law3
to teachers and other certified school employees who earn national board4
certification.5
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.6 provides for adjustments in salaries to teachers having6
certificates issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards; and 7
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.8 provides for supplements to salaries of school counselors8
having certain certificates issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors; and9
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.9 provides for supplements to salaries of school10
psychologists having certain credentials issued by the National School Psychology11
Certification Board; and12
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.10 provides for supplements to salaries of school social13
workers having certain certificates issued by the National Association of Social Workers;14
and15
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.11 provides for supplements to salaries of school speech-16
language pathologists and audiologists having certain certificates issued by the American17
Speech-Language Hearing Association; and18 SR NO. 195

WHEREAS, the aforementioned statutes call for the supplements to be paid "subject1
to appropriation of funds" which have not been appropriated in recent times.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana3
does hereby urge and request the Senate Committee on Education to study and make4
recommendations relative to providing salary increases as provided in existing law to5
teachers and other certified school employees who earn national board certification.6
