SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 195
BY SENATOR NEVERS 
A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Senate Committee on Education to study and make
recommendations relative to providing salary increases as provided in existing law
to teachers and other certified school employees who earn national board
certification.
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.6 provides for adjustments in salaries to teachers having
certificates issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards; and 
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.8 provides for supplements to salaries of school counselors
having certain certificates issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors; and
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.9 provides for supplements to salaries of school
psychologists having certain credentials issued by the National School Psychology
Certification Board; and
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.10 provides for supplements to salaries of school social
workers having certain certificates issued by the National Association of Social Workers;
and
WHEREAS, R.S. 17:421.11 provides for supplements to salaries of school speech-
language pathologists and audiologists having certain certificates issued by the American
Speech-Language Hearing Association; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned statutes call for the supplements to be paid "subject
to appropriation of funds" which have not been appropriated in recent times.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby urge and request the Senate Committee on Education to study and make
recommendations relative to providing salary increases as provided in existing law to
teachers and other certified school employees who earn national board certification.
