Expresses condolences upon the death of Glenn Lucien DeLaune Sr. A RESOLUTION1 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2 death of Glenn Lucien DeLaune Sr.3 WHEREAS, Glenn DeLaune Sr. was a native of Parks, Louisiana and graduated from4 the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, then known as the University of Southwestern5 Louisiana, in 1963 with a degree in music education; and6 WHEREAS, he taught music for ten years in Golden Meadow and Cecilia,7 Louisiana; and8 WHEREAS, his favorite musical instrument was the trombone and he served as9 conductor and musician in the Iberia Community Band as well as a member of the Eunice10 Concert Band; and11 WHEREAS, he was the director of several church choirs including Parks Choir in12 Parks, Louisiana; and13 WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune was a singer with the St. Anne Choir of Youngsville,14 Louisiana and with the Acadian French Memorial Choir of St. Martinville, Louisiana; and15 WHEREAS, after teaching, he started work in 1971 in the sugar industry, where he16 spent most of his working career; and17 WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune retired from the Louisiana Sugar Cane Co-op in St.18 SR NO. 3 SLS 12RS-660 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 Martinville, Louisiana where he held the positions of fabrication superintendent and assistant1 manager; and2 WHEREAS, upon his retirement he continued consulting work for the Louisiana3 Sugar Cane Co-op; and4 WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune enjoyed hobbies which included working with watches,5 clocks, model trains, and traveling; and6 WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, the former7 Mary Ellen LaLande; one son, Glenn DeLaune Jr. and his wife Katie; one daughter, Beth8 Comeaux and her husband, Anthony; one grandchild, Madison Comeaux of Youngsville,9 Louisiana; his mother, Ethel Roy DeLaune; sister, Gail Pierre of Parks, Louisiana; and one10 brother, Russ DeLaune and his wife Gloria of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and11 WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his father, Antoine DeLaune, formerly of12 Parks, Louisiana; and13 WHEREAS, a memorial mass of Christian burial was celebrated August 20, 201114 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, Louisiana; and15 WHEREAS, all who knew Mr. DeLaune, will remember his music, his voice, and16 musical teachings, as well as a his being a loving father, husband, and friend.17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana18 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolence upon the death of Glenn Lucien19 DeLaune Sr. and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this20 wonderful man will forever bring to his family, friends, church choirs, and community.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the22 family of Mr. Glenn Lucien DeLaune Sr.23 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Michelle Broussard-Johnson.
