SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 3
BY SENATOR MILLS 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
death of Glenn Lucien DeLaune Sr.
WHEREAS, Glenn DeLaune Sr. was a native of Parks, Louisiana and graduated from
the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, then known as the University of Southwestern
Louisiana, in 1963 with a degree in music education; and
WHEREAS, he taught music for ten years in Golden Meadow and Cecilia,
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, his favorite musical instrument was the trombone and he served as
conductor and musician in the Iberia Community Band as well as a member of the Eunice
Concert Band; and
WHEREAS, he was the director of several church choirs including Parks Choir in
Parks, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune was a singer with the St. Anne Choir of Youngsville,
Louisiana and with the Acadian French Memorial Choir of St. Martinville, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, after teaching, he started work in 1971 in the sugar industry, where he
spent most of his working career; and
WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune retired from the Louisiana Sugar Cane Co-op in St.
Martinville, Louisiana where he held the positions of fabrication superintendent and assistant
manager; and
WHEREAS, upon his retirement he continued consulting work for the Louisiana
Sugar Cane Co-op; and
WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune enjoyed hobbies which included working with watches,
clocks, model trains, and traveling; and SR NO. 3	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, Mr. DeLaune is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, the former
Mary Ellen LaLande; one son, Glenn DeLaune Jr. and his wife Katie; one daughter, Beth
Comeaux and her husband, Anthony; one grandchild, Madison Comeaux of Youngsville,
Louisiana; his mother, Ethel Roy DeLaune; sister, Gail Pierre of Parks, Louisiana; and one
brother, Russ DeLaune and his wife Gloria of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his father, Antoine DeLaune, formerly of
Parks, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, a memorial mass of Christian burial was celebrated August 20, 2011
at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, all who knew Mr. DeLaune, will remember his music, his voice, and
his musical teachings, as well as his being a loving father, husband, and friend.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolence upon the death of Glenn Lucien
DeLaune Sr. and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this
wonderful man will forever bring to his family, friends, church choirs, and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Mr. Glenn Lucien DeLaune Sr.
