SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38

A RESOLUTION
To commend Lisa Tarpley Price upon her induction as Louisiana district governor for Pilot
International.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Price is a twenty-seven year teaching veteran from Winnfield,
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, she graduated from Grant High School in Dry Prong, Louisiana, and
received a bachelor of arts degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from
Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, she has been a summer LEAP Remediation Teacher for Winn Parish
schools, has served on the Grant Parish School Board and currently serves on the Winn
Parish School Board; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Price is tremendously active in civic activities including being a
member and foster parent for pets for the Heart of Louisiana Humane Society in Winnfield,
Louisiana, a sponsor/advisor for Winn Parish School Vocational Programs, former president
of the Pilot Club of Winnfield, a division of Pilot International, served on the Louisiana Pilot
District, and an active member of Winnfield First Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1921, Pilot International is a volunteer service organization;
and
WHEREAS, the historic inspiration for the name was the riverboat pilot who would
steer a true course through calm or troubled waters and thus the motto "true course ever";
and
WHEREAS, Pilot International members are business and professional leaders who
share a common trait, the desire to help people in need and to make the world a better place

WHEREAS, since 1991, the focus of Pilot International is helping people affected
by brain related disorders; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Price chairs a number of fundraisers for individuals with brain or
learning disabilities including the Louisiana Forest Festival Pageant and Winn Parish Fair
and Festival; and
WHEREAS, she has been a driving force in the Winnfield Pilot Club which currently
has over forty active members; and
WHEREAS, as an educator, she is attuned to the special needs of children and was
pivotal in the Winnfield club decision to raise money to provide for "Wonder Works"
playground equipment for challenged individuals who are unable to use traditional
playground equipment; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Price is married to Jerry Price of Winnfield, Louisiana, and has
five children: Bryan, Michael, Leigh Anne, Anna, and Will, along with two grandchildren,
Lily and August.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Lisa Tarpley Price upon her induction as Louisiana district governor
for Pilot International.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mrs.
Lisa Tarpley Price.
