COMMENDATIONS. Commends Dt. Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe on her election as the 43
rd
Imperial Commandress of the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis Auxiliary to the Ancient
Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its
Jurisdictions, Inc.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Dt. Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe on her election as the forty-third Imperial2
Commandress of the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis Auxiliary to the Ancient3
Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its4
Jurisdictions, Inc.5
WHEREAS, the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis, is an auxiliary of female family6
members of Prince Hall Shriners, and was formally organized at the annual session of the7
Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine on August 24, 1910, in Detroit,8
Michigan; and9
WHEREAS, the establishment of the Imperial Court resulted when women10
representing the Daughters of Isis from Maryland, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C. met11
with a committee of Prince Hall Shriners and requested the formation and recognition of an12
organization for women and their relatives; and13
WHEREAS, it is a charitable and benevolent organization that stresses the14
development of powerful leaders, encourages health awareness among youth and adults,15
provides services to help disabled and senior citizens, provides for effective networking16
among its members and other organizations, recognizes and celebrates the historic and17
current achievement of African American women, exerts positive influence and utilizes the18 SR NO. 91

toll of role modeling for youth, teenage mothers, high school and college students, and1
disseminates information for educational opportunities and career planning to youth and2
adults; and3
WHEREAS, Dt. Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe was elevated to the office of the forty-third4
Imperial Commandress of the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis Auxiliary to the Ancient5
Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its6
Jurisdictions, Inc., on August 24, 2011, in Cincinnati, Ohio; and7
WHEREAS, she was first elected to the Imperial Court Divan in August 1993 and8
has held leadership posts throughout her membership; and9
WHEREAS, Dt. Ellerbe has been the recipient of many civic and organizational10
awards, including the YMCA Black Achiever Award in Industry, the Imperial Director of11
Region Achievement Award, the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis Outstanding Service12
Award, the Long Island Shrine Club of Abu-Bekr Temple #91 for Exceptional and13
Remarkable Service Award, the Phenomenal Women of the Year Award from the Church14
Women United, Inc., and the Brooklyn Unit and Heroine Award from New Jerusalem15
Baptist Church; and16
WHEREAS, the professional achievements of Dt. Ellerbe were recognized by her17
promotion to assistant vice president at European American Bank, where she was18
responsible for the employee pension and welfare plans; and19
WHEREAS, she was certified at Cornell University as an Affirmative Action20
Specialist and received her certification as a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist from the21
American Institute of Banking; and22
WHEREAS, Dt. Ellerbe embodies the ideals of the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis,23
by working diligently to unite the relatives of all members into one common bond of24
friendship, to practice charity and benevolence, and to encapsulate the honor and integrity25
symbolized in the legend of Isis, the Egyptian Queen and Goddess.26
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana27
does hereby commend and congratulate Dt. Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe on her election as the28
forty-third Imperial Commandress of the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis Auxiliary to the29
Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its30 SR NO. 91

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dt.2
