SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 91
BY SENATOR MURRAY 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Dt. Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe on her election as the forty-third Imperial
Commandress of the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis Auxiliary to the Ancient
Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its
Jurisdictions, Inc.
WHEREAS, the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis, is an auxiliary of female family
members of Prince Hall Shriners, and was formally organized at the annual session of the
Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine on August 24, 1910, in Detroit,
Michigan; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of the Imperial Court resulted when women
representing the Daughters of Isis from Maryland, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C. met
with a committee of Prince Hall Shriners and requested the formation and recognition of an
organization for women and their relatives; and
WHEREAS, it is a charitable and benevolent organization that stresses the
development of powerful leaders, encourages health awareness among youth and adults,
provides services to help disabled and senior citizens, provides for effective networking
among its members and other organizations, recognizes and celebrates the historic and
current achievement of African American women, exerts positive influence and utilizes the
toll of role modeling for youth, teenage mothers, high school and college students, and
disseminates information for educational opportunities and career planning to youth and
adults; and
WHEREAS, Dt. Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe was elevated to the office of the forty-third
Imperial Commandress of the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis Auxiliary to the Ancient
Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its SR NO. 91	ENROLLED

Jurisdictions, Inc., on August 24, 2011, in Cincinnati, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, she was first elected to the Imperial Court Divan in August 1993 and
has held leadership posts throughout her membership; and
WHEREAS, Dt. Ellerbe has been the recipient of many civic and organizational
awards, including the YMCA Black Achiever Award in Industry, the Imperial Director of
Region Achievement Award, the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis Outstanding Service
Award, the Long Island Shrine Club of Abu-Bekr Temple #91 for Exceptional and
Remarkable Service Award, the Phenomenal Women of the Year Award from the Church
Women United, Inc., and the Brooklyn Unit and Heroine Award from New Jerusalem
Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, the professional achievements of Dt. Ellerbe were recognized by her
promotion to assistant vice president at European American Bank, where she was
responsible for the employee pension and welfare plans; and
WHEREAS, she was certified at Cornell University as an Affirmative Action
Specialist and received her certification as a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist from the
American Institute of Banking; and
WHEREAS, Dt. Ellerbe embodies the ideals of the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis,
by working diligently to unite the relatives of all members into one common bond of
friendship, to practice charity and benevolence, and to encapsulate the honor and integrity
symbolized in the legend of Isis, the Egyptian Queen and Goddess.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Dt. Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe on her election as the
forty-third Imperial Commandress of the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis Auxiliary to the
Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its
Jurisdictions, Inc.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dt.
Ruth Mayfield Ellerbe.
