Abstract: Provides that no vehicle shall be equipped with certain wheel equipment
extending outside the body of the vehicle when viewed from directly above which
incorporate winged projections or constitute a hazard to pedestrians and cyclists.
Present law provides that no tire on a vehicle moved on a highway shall have on its
periphery any protuberances of any material, other than rubber, which projects beyond the
thread of the traction surface of the tire and provides for exceptions for certain farm
machinery and tire chains.
Proposed law retains present law and additionally provides that no vehicle shall be equipped
with certain wheel equipment that extends outside the body of a vehicle when viewed from
directly above which incorporate winged projections or constitute a hazard to pedestrians
and cyclists.
Proposed law defines "wheel nut".
