AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 3:3806(A)(2), 3807(B)(5) and (E), and 3808(E)(4) through (7)2
and to enact R.S. 3:3808(E)(8), relative to licensing of landscape architects; to3
provide for fees and examinations; to provide for terms and conditions of licenses4
and permits; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 3:3806(A)(2), 3807(B)(5) and (E), and 3808(E)(4) through (7) are7
hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 3:3808(E)(8) is hereby enacted to read as follows:8
§3806.  Fees9

(2) The examination fee for each examination for a professional license for12
landscape architects shall be the cost incurred established by the commission in13
obtaining the national examination plus an administrative fee, by rule in an amount14
not to exceed two hundred dollars, which represents the cost of administering and15
grading the examination Louisiana Landscape Architect Examination.16

§3807.  Examinations18

B. The examination for each profession shall be compiled from lists of20
questions submitted by the following organizations:21

successor. supplemented with such other questions as shall be determined by the1
commission.  The Louisiana Landscape Architect Examination shall be compiled2
from a list of questions approved by the commission.3

E. The commission may enter into reciprocal agreements with licensing5
agencies in other states to provide that applicants for a landscape architect's license6
who are licensed in another state as a result of passing an examination which was7
approved by the Council of Landscape Architects Architectural Registration Board8
Boards, or its successor, shall be given credit for having passed that examination and9
will be required only to pass the Louisiana Landscape Architect Examination. section10
of the examination to be licensed in Louisiana.11
§3808.  Terms and conditions of licenses and permits12

E.  Landscape architects shall be subject to the following provisions:14

(4) In order to qualify to take the national landscape architect examination16
for the landscape architect's license, the applicant shall meet one of the qualifications17
set forth in this Paragraph.  The applicant shall submit evidence of qualification in18
the form required by the commission by rule.  The applicant shall indicate on the19
application which qualification the applicant meets.  The qualifications are: the20
minimum qualification standards approved by the Council of Landscape21
Architectural Registration Boards, or its successor.22
(a) The applicant is the holder of a professional degree from a school whose23
curriculum has been accredited by the accrediting entity approved by the American24
Society of Landscape Architects or is the holder of a degree which the commission25
by rule has declared to be the educational equivalent of that degree and has26
completed a minimum of one year internship under the direct supervision of a27
licensed landscape architect, or landscape horticulturist, or design professional in a28

(b) The applicant has completed six years of practical landscape architectural1
experience under the direct supervision of a licensed landscape architect or landscape2
horticulturist, or design professional in a related profession.3
(c) The applicant possesses a combination of education and experience4
which the commission, by rule, has determined to be the equivalent of the5
qualifications in Subparagraphs (a) and (b) of this Paragraph.6
(5) In order to qualify to take the Louisiana Landscape Architect7
Examination, the applicant shall submit evidence of passing the national examination8
prepared by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, or its9
successor.10
(5)(6) The commission shall issue each licensed landscape architect a11
permanent registration number.12
(6)(7) Each landscape architect shall affix his seal to all drawings or13
specifications prepared by or under the direct supervision of the landscape architect.14
(7)(8) The seals used by landscape architects shall meet the specifications15
determined by rule by the commission.16
