BRIDGES/FERRIES: Provides relative to uncollected tolls on the Crescent City Connection AN ACT1 To provide amnesty for persons alleged to have failed to pay tolls on the Crescent City2 Connection between January 1, 2013, to March 5, 2013. 3 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 4 Section 1. Legislative Findings. A. R.S. 47:7013(C), as enacted by Act No. 865 of5 the 2012 Regular Session of the Legislature, provides that "no motor vehicle shall be driven6 and no motor vehicle shall be towed through a toll collection facility on the Crescent City7 Connection without payment of the proper toll." R.S. 47:7013(C) further provides that "in8 the event of the nonpayment of the proper toll, as evidenced by video or electronic9 recording, the registered owner of such vehicle or trailer shall be liable to make prompt10 payment of the proper toll and, in certain circumstances, an administrative fee of twenty-five11 dollars to recover the cost of collecting the toll." 12 B. The Department of Transportation and Development ("department") mailed13 violation notices to registered motor vehicle owners alleged to be liable for nonpayment of14 tolls on the Crescent City Connection between January 1, 2013, and March 5, 2013. 15 Section 2. Any violation notice issued by the department for alleged nonpayment of16 tolls on the Crescent City Connection between January 1, 2013, and March 5, 2013, is17 hereby declared null and void. Amnesty is hereby granted to persons for failing to pay a toll18 on the Crescent City Connection between January 1, 2013, and March 5, 2013. The department shall refund all tolls, charges, and fees paid by persons1 who received a notice of violation for the alleged nonpayment of tolls on the Crescent City2 Connection between January 1, 2013, and March 5, 2013. 3 Section 4.
