HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 182
BY REPRESENTATIVE JOHNSON
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the members of the House of Representatives upon the death
of Connie Roy Lemoine, native of Mansura, Louisiana, and longtime resident of
Marksville.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to formally convey the sorrow shared by the members
of the House of Representatives upon learning that Connie Roy Lemoine had cast off the
cares of this world and had moved from her temporal residence in Marksville to a place of
eternal rest; and
WHEREAS, in 1932, Connie Roy was born to Landry and Carrie Zimmer Roy in
Mansura, and she grew to be a physically active young lady who played basketball and other
sports and loved her neighborhood, its culture, and the people of her town; and
WHEREAS, she enjoyed sharing with others the pride she felt in her roots by
reminiscing about the "good ol' days" in Mansura; and
WHEREAS, Connie Roy married Patrick Lemoine, Sr., and together they made their
home in Marksville, the parents of five children; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lemoine was actively employed outside the home during her
lifetime, having worked in a doctor's office and at the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Department
Tax Office; and
WHEREAS, civic duties played an important role in Mrs. Lemoine's life, as
evidenced by her service as president and longtime member of American Legion Auxiliary
Post 130, as a board member of the Marksville Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the
Avoyelles Parish Election Commission, as a board member and president of the Avoyelles
Parish Council on Aging, as a member of the Louisiana Democratic State Central
Committee, and as a member of the Local Triad Committee; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 182

WHEREAS, on May 31, 2013, Mrs. Connie Roy Lemoine crossed the chasm from
death to life, and while her joy is now eternal, she leaves to mourn her passing her children,
Susan Brouillette and husband David, Felice, Jack and wife Theresa, and Constance Rabalais
and husband Thad; a sister, Narcille Mayeux; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren,
and one great-great-grandchild; yet, the lessons Mrs. Lemoine learned early in life at St. Paul
Catholic Church of Mansura and taught to her family gives them hope that she is in a better
place, reunited with those who had gone before her, including her husband, their son Patrick
Lemoine, Jr., and her parents, brothers, and sisters.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the House of Representatives
of the Legislature of Louisiana do hereby extend their deepest and most heartfelt sympathies
to the family of Mrs. Connie Roy Lemoine as they grieve the loss of their mother, sister,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, do hereby express their
condolences upon her death, and do hereby record for posterity that the towns of Mansura
and Marksville were made better by her passage through them.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Mrs. Connie Roy Lemoine.
