HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 38
BY REPRESENTATIVE CHANEY
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Delhi High School girls powerlifting team on winning its first Division V
state championship.
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School girls powerlifting team completed a sensational
season, earning the title of 2013 Division V state powerlifting champions by scoring a
commanding fifty-five points at the Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association's state
championship on March 16, 2013, twenty-one points higher than the runner-up team; and
WHEREAS, the state powerlifting championship win was the culmination of another
unforgettable and extraordinary season for Delhi, particularly since this is only the fourth
season of the program at the school; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Dynesha Williams, Shaquoa Robinson,
Raven Williams, Sharice Young, Selisha Percy, and Titiuanna Williams for placing first as
the best lifters in their respective weight groups; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her first-place finish, Dynesha Williams was named
"Outstanding Lifter" in the one hundred sixty-five pound and higher weight class, scoring
a Wilks Coefficient total of 775.4; and
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School girls powerlifters displayed impeccable skill and
focus throughout the season and each of these young women deserves a special measure of
commendation for her vital contribution to the success of the team; and
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
without the guidance and skill of head coach Jesse Esters, as well as all of the other
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's powerlifting program; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2013 season upholds the glorious tradition of the
Delhi High School athletics program, and all Delhi High School alumni and fans recognize ENROLLEDHR NO. 38

the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community,
and state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the 2012-2013 Delhi High School girls
powerlifting team upon winning the 2013 Division V state powerlifting championship, does
hereby record for posterity the immense pride that the team brings to the school, the town
of Delhi, and the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend best wishes to the lifters,
coaches, and everyone involved with this fine powerlifting program as they celebrate their
exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Delhi High School principal Kenneth R. Jenkins and Jesse Esters, head coach of the Delhi
girls powerlifting team.
