ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 63 BY REPRESENTATIVE KLECKLEY A RESOLUTION1 To recognize Wednesday, April 24, 2013 as the inaugural Liquified Natural Gas Day at the2 state capitol.3 WHEREAS, the United States is the largest world producer of natural gas and4 Louisiana is the second largest producing state in the country with three trillion cubic feet5 produced per year; and6 WHEREAS, global demand for liquified natural gas (LNG) is expected to grow7 significantly over the next two decades; and8 WHEREAS, Louisiana natural gas is poised to play a major role in meeting that9 demand; and10 WHEREAS, eight LNG production facilities have been proposed in the state of11 Louisiana with a total announced investment of well over forty-one billion dollars; and12 WHEREAS, the first federally permitted LNG export facility in the lower forty-eight13 states is currently being built by Cheniere Energy in Cameron Parish; and14 WHEREAS, LNG exports will create tens of thousands of construction and15 operations jobs in Louisiana and will support fifty thousand jobs in the exploration and16 production sectors for every two billion cubic feet per day of exports; and17 WHEREAS, LNG exports will support increased production of hydrocarbons in18 Louisiana's Haynesville Shale, and other onshore and offshore production areas; and19 WHEREAS, a diverse coalition of LNG producers, energy and petroleum companies,20 business groups, service companies, and others have expressed their support for LNG21 exports; and22 WHEREAS, LNG exports from Louisiana will provide a stable and secure energy23 source for America's allies around the world, with Louisiana leading that global initiative.24 ENROLLEDHR NO. 63 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the1 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby declare April 24, 2013, as Liquified Natural Gas Day2 at the state capitol and does hereby commend Anadarko, BG Group, Cheniere, Chesapeake,3 Trunkline LNG, the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, Louisiana Midcontinent Oil and Gas4 Association, and others as they work to build support for Louisiana’s growing LNG industry.5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted6 to the presidents of Anadarko, BG Group, Cheniere, Chesapeake, Trunkline LNG, the7 Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, Louisiana Midcontinent Oil and Gas Association.8 SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATI VES
