HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 65

A RESOLUTION
To welcome the American Numismatic Association to Louisiana and to thank the
association for holding its annual National Money Show in New Orleans.
WHEREAS, the American Numismatic Association will hold its annual National
Money Show in Louisiana for the first time in nearly twenty years, from May 7 to May 12,
2013, at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) was founded in 1891 by
Dr. George F. Heath in Chicago, Illinois, to advance the study of money along educational,
historical, and scientific lines; and
WHEREAS, the ANA has over twenty-five thousand members in the United States,
is the largest nonprofit numismatic organization of its kind in the world, and received a
federal charter from the United States in 1912 for its work in the field of numismatics; and
WHEREAS, the ANA has held conventions annually almost every year since 1891
which include exhibits, educational programs, junior member activities, auctions, and
meetings of affiliated specialty organizations, and the association has held two annual shows
since 1978, the National Money Show and the ANA World's Fair of Money; and
WHEREAS, the ANA deserves a special measure of commendation for bringing this
unique organization and this splendid show to the city of New Orleans.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby welcome the American Numismatic Association to
Louisiana and does hereby extend to the association heartfelt appreciation for bringing its
annual convention and National Money Show to the city of New Orleans.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the president of the American Numismatic Association.
