HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 70
BY REPRESENTATIVE EDWARDS
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Bryan Keith
Brumfield of Fluker, Louisiana, on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the age of fifty.
WHEREAS, Bryan Keith Brumfield was born on February 6, 1963, in New Orleans,
and was a graduate of Nichols State University where he was a four-year football letterman;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brumfield was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church
in Amite and an active member and past president of the Amite Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brumfield served as a board member of the Amite Area Youth
Sports Babe Ruth League, as vice chairman of Fire District 1, and as president of the Oak
Forest Academy Booster Club; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brumfield was active in the business community of Amite as an
Allstate agent; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brumfield was preceded in death by his parents, Claude H. "Hank"
Brumfield, Sr., and Eleanor Vessier "Cricket" Brumfield; one brother, Claude H. Brumfield,
Jr.; paternal grandparents, Welton and Josephine Brumfield; and maternal grandparents,
Rene and Hallie Vessier; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brumfield is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Jan Kent
Brumfield; one daughter, Lauren Kent Brumfield; two sons, Caleb Bryan Brumfield and
Bradley Keith Brumfield; and two sisters, Sara Frances Brumfield and Barbara Davis; and
WHEREAS, with the death of Bryan Keith Brumfield, Louisiana has lost one of her
finest citizens, a true gentlemen who served his community and left an indelible mark on the
lives of the many citizens whose lives he touched, and one who was a loving husband, father,
and friend who will be deeply missed; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 70

WHEREAS, although his death has left a tremendous void in his community and
throughout the state, Mr. Brumfield's memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of
all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of Bryan Keith Brumfield of Fluker, does hereby recognize and record for posterity
his outstanding achievements and singular contributions, and does hereby extend true
appreciation for his enduring legacy which will forever continue to be a source of deep pride
and honor for his family, friends, colleagues, community, and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Bryan Keith Brumfield.
