AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 18:118, relative to voter registration forms; to provide for the availability of2
voter registration cards by firearm retailers; to provide for registration with the3
secretary of state to receive voter registration information and procedures; to provide4
for definitions and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 18:118 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง118. Voter registration application form availability; firearm retailers8
A. It is the intention of the legislature to increase the participation in the9
electoral process by the citizens of the state. Therefore, voter registration10
application forms, as provided for in this Section, may be made available to11
purchasers of firearms at the point of purchase from firearm retailers located12
in the state.13
B. For the purposes of this Section:14
(1) "Firearm" means any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun that is15
designed to fire or is capable of firing fixed cartridge ammunition or from16
which a shot or projectile is discharged by an explosive.17
(2)  "Firearm retailer" means any retailer who possesses a Type 0118
Federal Firearms License and employs twenty-five or more full-time employees.19
C. Firearm retailers who make voter registration applications available20
may register with the secretary of state to receive voter registration information21
and procedures.22

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not1
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature2
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If3
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become4
effective on the day following such approval.5
