AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 32:412(L) and R.S. 40:1321(L), relative to "I'm a Cajun" on a driver's license2 and identification card; to provide for the exhibition of the designation "I'm a Cajun"3 on a driver's license and identification card; to authorize collection of a fee for the4 "I'm a Cajun" designation; to provide for the disbursement of fees collected to the5 Council for the Development of French in Louisiana; and to provide for related6 matters.7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8 Section 1. R.S. 32:412(L) is hereby enacted to read as follows:9 §412. Amount of fees; credit or refund; duration of license; veteran designation;10 "I'm a Cajun" designation; disbursement of funds; renewal by mail11 or electronic commerce of Class "D" or "E" drivers' licenses;12 disposition of certain fees; exception13 * * *14 L.(1) Upon request and payment of an additional fee, the designation15 "I'm a Cajun" shall be exhibited in the color black below the person's16 photograph on the driver's license regardless of its class. The deputy secretary17 of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, public safety services, shall18 comply with the provisions of this Subsection.19 (2) The department shall collect an annual fee of five dollars for20 inclusion of the designation "I'm a Cajun" on any class of driver's license,21 which fee shall be disbursed in accordance with Paragraph (3) of this22 ACT No. 55 SB NO. 201 ENROLLED Page 2 of 3 Coding: Words which are struck through are deletions from existing law; words in boldface type and underscored are additions. This fee shall be in addition to the payment of any driver's license1 fee.2 (3) The monies received from the additional fee shall be disbursed3 quarterly by the department to the Council for the Development of French in4 Louisiana. The monies received from the additional five dollar fee shall be5 disbursed solely to fund scholarships for the "La Fondation Louisiane for the6 Escadrille Louisiane" scholarship program of the Council for the Development7 of French in Louisiana. 8 (4) The deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and9 Corrections, public safety services, shall establish such rules and regulations as10 are necessary to implement the provisions of this Subsection.11 Section 2. R.S. 40:1321(L) is hereby enacted to read as follows:12 §1321. Special identification cards; issuance; veteran designation; "I'm a Cajun"13 designation; fees; expiration and renewal; exceptions; promulgation14 of rules; promotion of use; persons less than twenty-one years of age;15 the Protect and Save our Children Program; Selective Service16 Registration17 * * *18 L.(1) Upon request and payment of an additional fee, the designation19 "I'm a Cajun" shall be exhibited in the color black below the person's20 photograph on the special identification card. The deputy secretary of the21 Department of Public Safety and Corrections, public safety services, shall22 comply with the provisions of this Subsection.23 (2) The department shall collect an annual fee of five dollars for24 inclusion of the designation "I'm a Cajun" on the special identification card,25 which fee shall be disbursed in accordance with Paragraph (3) of this26 Subsection.
