A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of David
B. Usher.
WHEREAS, David B. Usher was a beloved son, brother, grandson, husband, father,
godfather, friend and associate to those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, he was senior vice president of Business Development at the Lake
Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and former chief operating officer
at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Usher was a member of the Lake Charles Rotary Club, Kids Can
of Southwest Louisiana, and the Lake Charles Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, the family acknowledges their added blessing to have had the amazing
support received from Frances Ellmer and Teresa and Steve Schnake who were of great
value to the life and family of Mr. Usher; and
WHEREAS, he is survived by his parents Floyd and Betty Usher of Ville Plate,
Louisiana, and grandmother Juanita Balliew, his loving wife Marcia of thirty-five years, his
beloved daughter Allison Schnake and husband John, brother Jim Usher and wife Brenda,
sister Debbie Guillory and husband Gardon of Lafayette, Louisiana, and sister-in-law Jenell
Lee; and
WHEREAS, he is also survived by his nieces and nephews Shawn Usher and his wife
Jennifer, Shelley Johnson and husband Scott, David Paul Usher, Alex and Jocelyn Guillory,
Mark Lee and Alisa Gollotte, a host of extended family, and countless friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Usher was named "Big Uncle David" to his grand nieces and
nephews, Sarah, Erin, and Emily Johnson; James, Mary Claire, Elizabeth, and Aimee Usher;
Ashley Miller and husband Christopher; Meagan Miller, Colan Miller and Bradley Gollett
along with being cherished in memory with his godchildren, Shawn Usher, Debbie Guillory,
and Amanda Fontenot; and SCR NO. 116	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, with the death of Mr. Usher, Louisiana lost one of its finest citizens and
a true gentleman, who left an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched; and
WHEREAS, although Mr. Usher's passing has left a void in his community and state,
the memory of David B. Usher shall live on in the minds and hearts of all who knew and
loved him.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of David. B. Usher, and does
hereby recognize the incomparable legacy which is marked by the deep pride and honor that
he brought to his family, friends, community and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of David. B. Usher.
