SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 60

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To urge and request federal, state, and local governing authorities when contracting for
coastal restoration and protection projects to give priority to Louisiana businesses.
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana is facing an unprecedented crisis due to the rapid
loss of its coast and wetlands, a challenge that is threatening its communities, industry and
small businesses, and culture; and
WHEREAS, this crisis has created a need for a concerted effort involving multiple
state and federal agencies, as well as local levee boards, parish officials, private industries,
and concerned citizens; and
WHEREAS, the legislature has mandated that the Coastal Protection and Restoration
Authority develop and implement a comprehensive coastal protection and restoration master
plan that will include numerous coastal restoration and protection projects that will protect
Louisiana's communities, its industry and small businesses, the nation's critical energy
infrastructure, and the state's bountiful natural resources; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's industry and small businesses are also threatened by our
coastal crisis and will be an integral part in participating in the numerous infrastructure
projects that will be necessary to restore the state's coasts and protect its people.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
urge and request federal, state, and local governing authorities when contracting for coastal
restoration and protection projects to give priority to Louisiana businesses.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
executive director of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
