SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 71
BY SENATOR PEACOCK AND REPRESENTATI VE SEABAUGH 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Ceara Johnson upon being named the 2013 Louisiana Public Schools
Elementary School Student of the Year and to recognize her extraordinary
accomplishments.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana recognizes the
academics, leadership skills, and character of Ceara Johnson and her service to her school
and community; and
WHEREAS, as a fifth grade student at South Highlands Elementary School and as
a straight-A student, she demonstrates her dedication to academic achievement and displays
an unwavering commitment to do her best at all times; and
WHEREAS, Ceara Johnson is a published writer whose prose was featured by the
Duke Talent Identification Program, where she was named a Star Student; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her academic success, she dances with the River Cities Dance
Foundation and has performed in the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker and in The
Wizard of Oz with a New York touring company; and
WHEREAS, the musical talents of Ceara Johnson are evident in her activities as a
member of the South Highlands Choir and her church choir, in which she sings and plays
acoustic guitar; and
WHEREAS, she is the daughter of Kevin and Roishene Johnson, who should be
recognized along with her teachers and school for inspiring her to set and achieve
extraordinary goals; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Department of Education has selected Ceara Johnson as
the recipient of the 2013 Louisiana Public Schools Elementary School Student of the Year

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Ceara Johnson upon being named the 2013 Louisiana Public Schools Elementary
School Student of the Year, does hereby wish Ms. Johnson full measures of success and
happiness in her years to come, and hereby hope that she serves as an example to other
students who have our state's future in their hands and serve as a promise to the next
generation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Ceara
Johnson of Caddo Parish.
