SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 75
BY SENATOR CROWE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the Salmen High School Lady Spartan basketball team
for winning the Class 4-A state championship.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Salmen High School Lady Spartans basketball team for winning the Class2
4-A state championship.3
WHEREAS, the Salmen High School girls basketball team from Slidell defeated St.4
Thomas More High School of Lafayette by a score of 40 to 39 to win the state Class 4-A5
basketball championship in Monroe; and6
WHEREAS, the season ended for the Lady Spartans with a last minute free throw7
that clinched the title and a season record of thirty wins and three losses; and8
WHEREAS, on the way to the state title the Lady Spartans defeated teams from St.9
Michael, Vandebilt Catholic, McDonough, Easton, Franklinton, and Hammond, among10
others; and11
WHEREAS, the Lady Spartans were honored during the season by being ranked12
nationally by the website "Maxpreps.com"; and13
WHEREAS, the Lady Spartans controlled their own destiny much of the season,14
finishing the season undefeated in district play; and15
WHEREAS, the Lady Spartans and their coach Kevin Anderson were honored by the16
St. Tammany Parish Council for having won the state championship and for their hard work,17
perseverance, commitment through the season, and the determination to win the state18 SCR NO. 75

tournament; and1
WHEREAS, Terri Wortmann, principal of Salmen High School, congratulated the2
team on having "represented themselves with great poise and dignity" and for remaining true3
to the value of hard work and sportsmanship that are key to every great achievement in life;4
and5
WHEREAS, in winning the girls Class 4-A basketball championship, the Lady6
Spartans of Salmen High School represented themselves, their school, and their parish in an7
outstanding and positive manner, an accomplishment of which all the team members and8
coaches may be justly proud.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby10
commend the Salmen High School Lady Spartan basketball team for winning the Class 4-A11
state championship. 12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to13
Salmen High School principal, Terri Wortmann.14
