SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 86
BY SENATOR CROWE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Joshua R. Ashley and Ian Frichter for their competition
in the Automotive Technology Program at Northshore Technical Community College.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Joshua R. Ashley and Ian Frichter on their participation in the Ford/AAA2
Automotive State Competition at Northshore Technical Community College.3
WHEREAS, the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition fosters young people's4
interest in the automotive industry through this competition in which students can win prizes,5
scholarships, tools, and awards; and6
WHEREAS, the competition consists of two-person teams of students in the eleventh7
and twelfth grade who are automotive technology students; and8
WHEREAS, with an eye toward future careers, the names of students who register9
for the competition are submitted to AAA-affiliated service facilities, Ford Motor Company10
dealers, and many other sponsoring organizations who are in need of employees with11
excellent knowledge and training in the area of automotive technology; and12
WHEREAS, in the 2013 competition, Joshua Ashley of Salmen High School and Ian13
Frichter of Slidell High School placed sixth, two places better than the previous year; and14
WHEREAS, Ashley and Frichter each received a two thousand dollar scholarship for15
future study in the area of automotive technology; and16
WHEREAS, the Northshore Technical Community College program received17
substantial support from local Ford and Nissan dealerships, with Ford donating a 2013 Ford18 SCR NO. 86

Focus for the students to use for practice prior to the competition and Nissan provided a1
rental car for the students and instructor to travel to Alexandria, Louisiana for the2
competition; and3
WHEREAS, participation in this competition affords the participants additional4
training, while boosting confidence in their automotive skills; and5
WHEREAS, involvement in this annual competition is intended to enhance a6
students' employment opportunities as the names of competitors are provided to all sponsors7
of the event.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby9
commend Joshua R. Ashley and Ian Frichter on their participation in the Ford/AAA10
Automotive State Competition at Northshore Technical Community College.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to12
Joshua R. Ashley of Salmen High School and Ian Frichter of Slidell High School.13
