SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 86
BY SENATOR CROWE AND REPRESENTATI VE CROMER 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Joshua R. Ashley and Ian Frichter on their participation in the Ford/AAA
Automotive State Competition at Northshore Technical Community College.
WHEREAS, the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition fosters young people's
interest in the automotive industry through this competition in which students can win prizes,
scholarships, tools, and awards; and
WHEREAS, the competition consists of two-person teams of students in the eleventh
and twelfth grade who are automotive technology students; and
WHEREAS, with an eye toward future careers, the names of students who register
for the competition are submitted to AAA-affiliated service facilities, Ford Motor Company
dealers, and many other sponsoring organizations who are in need of employees with
excellent knowledge and training in the area of automotive technology; and
WHEREAS, in the 2013 competition, Joshua Ashley of Salmen High School and Ian
Frichter of Slidell High School placed sixth, two places better than the previous year; and
WHEREAS, Ashley and Frichter each received a two thousand dollar scholarship for
future study in the area of automotive technology; and
WHEREAS, the Northshore Technical Community College program received
substantial support from local Ford and Nissan dealerships, with Ford donating a 2013 Ford
Focus for the students to use for practice prior to the competition and Nissan provided a
rental car for the students and instructor to travel to Alexandria, Louisiana, for the
competition; and
WHEREAS, participation in this competition affords the participants additional
training, while boosting confidence in their automotive skills; and
WHEREAS, involvement in this annual competition is intended to enhance a
student's employment opportunities as the names of competitors are provided to all sponsors

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Joshua R. Ashley and Ian Frichter on their participation in the Ford/AAA
Automotive State Competition at Northshore Technical Community College.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Joshua R. Ashley of Salmen High School and Ian Frichter of Slidell High School.
