Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13 BY SENATORS THOMPSON AND WAL SWORTH A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Rayville High School girls basketball team on winning the Class 3-A state championship. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana and the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana congratulate the Rayville High School girls basketball team on their competitive spirit during the 2012-2013 season that culminated in winning the Class 3-A Girls State Basketball Championship; and WHEREAS, the Rayville High School girls basketball team captured their first ever state championship title on Thursday, March 7, 2013, with a 71-38 win over Baker High School; and WHEREAS, the Rayville High School girls basketball players displayed impeccable team concept throughout the season and each of these young women deserves individual recognition for her vital contribution to the success of the team; and WHEREAS, Dameisha Daniels, Alexia Jackson, Victoria Wilson, Thomasina Minor, Andreanna Jackson, Shardal Johnson, La Dencia Johnson, Angelica Williams, Arielle Richardson, Nikita Lyons, and Kenniesha Murphy are all commended for their determination and dedication to the sport, resulting in a phenomenal season with an impressive twenty-seven wins and only five losses; and WHEREAS, Head Coach Amber Obaze-Ford, in her first season at Rayville High School, was selected as the 2013 Northeast Coach of the Year and District 2-3-A Coach of the Year; and WHEREAS, Coach Amber Obaze-Ford and Assistant Coach Debbie Marshall have instilled in their players the kind of leadership and motivational skills needed to achieve great success both on and off the basketball court; and SR NO. 13 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend La Dencia Johnson for being named as Co-Most Valuable Player for Class 2-3-A, Monroe Civic Center Tournament Most Valuable Player, Miss Basketball, Northeast Girls Player of the Year and 1 st Team All State; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Thomasina Minor for being named Class 3-A Girls Most Valuable Player and 1 st Team All District 2-3-A and Andreanna Jackson as Co-Most Valuable Player District 2-3-A; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Dameisha Daniels and Victoria Wilson for being named 1 st Team All District 2-3-A; Shardal Johnson and Arielle Richardson for being named 2 nd Team All District 2-3-A; and Angelica Williams for being named Honorable Mention All District 2-3-A; and WHEREAS, the Rayville High School Lady Hornets bring a commanding sense of honor and immense pride to the school, the town of Rayville, and the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the players and coaches of Rayville High School on an impressive and memorable season, and on capturing the Class 3-A Girls State High School Basketball Championship. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Rayville High School principal, Tommy Watson, and the head basketball coach, Amber Obaze-Ford. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
