Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 148 BY SENATORS WALSWORTH AND GALLOT A RESOLUTION To commend Pastor Tommy L. Carr for his thirty years of dedicated service to the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and the spiritual comfort he has provided to others through his ministry. WHEREAS, in 1983 Pastor Carr accepted pastorship of one of the largest churches in Union Parish, Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr has now become the longest serving, tenured, full-time pastor in a predominately black church in the area; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr has been an active and vital pastor and teacher to the church's congregation and to many more believers throughout Louisiana and other states; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr's discernment and commitment to God and the members of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church has led him to mentor ten sons of the ministry at Zion Hill as well as numerous others throughout the region; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr's character has always exemplified his courage and stamina for spreading God's word and standing, no matter the odds, for what is right and spiritual; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr is presently moderator of the Gumspring Baptist Association, serving also as vice president, Northeast Regional Chairperson, and instructor of the Louisiana Baptist Congress of Christian Education; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr is also currently an instructor in the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr has always shown himself to be a great and godly leader who humbles himself before his almighty God; and WHEREAS, Pastor Carr is, beyond any doubt, a true believer and always places the needs of his congregation and his personal love of God before any of his own troubles; and SR NO. 148 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, for the past thirty years, Pastor Carr has presided over his flock and their church and in that time he has brought great peace to those he has ministered and great spiritual stability to the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Farmerville. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize and extend its highest commendations to Pastor Tommy L. Carr for his remarkable accomplishments as pastor of his church and for the amazing example he continues to set for all who hear his words, sermons, and prayers in the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Pastor Carr. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
