Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 17 BY SENATOR BROOME A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Hattie Thomas Richard. WHEREAS, it is with sincere regret that the members of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Hattie Thomas Richard, on April 9, 2013, at age seventy-one; and WHEREAS, she was the daughter of Albertha Watson and the late Grover Thomas, born in Jasper, Texas, on February 5, 1942; and WHEREAS, Hattie later relocated to Baton Rouge with her mother and younger siblings and was a proud 1960 graduate of Capitol Senior High School, where she met "the love of her life", the late Wilbert Richard, and they married on May 23, 1961; and WHEREAS, she was a retired receptionist for The O'Brien House and Free Indeed Outpatient Clinic and enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and counseling others; and WHEREAS, Hattie was a very active member of the Capital Area AA community where she inspired and sponsored others with her twenty-four years of sobriety and she was a longtime member of True Light Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her father; husband; sister, Loretha Vaughn; brother, William Watson Jr.; and daughter, Sanja Mitchell; and WHEREAS, Hattie will forever be remembered and loved by those who survive her including her mother; son, Kevin Richard Sr.; daughter, Tonja Myles (Darren); brothers, Arthur Thomas; Larry Thomas; sisters, Linda Hall (Ayodeji); Doretha Lindsey (Alvin); Judy Hill (Ed); grandchildren, Chakesha Richard (Damon); Chantel Jefferson; Kevin Richard Jr. (Devin); Jayda Mitchell; Trei Michael Mitchell; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
