A RESOLUTION
To commend Angela Hill for her 35 years in broadcasting at WWL New Orleans and for her
outstanding commitment to journalism and service to our state.
WHEREAS, Angela Hill has been an integral force at WWL-TV for more than
thirty-five years, joining the station's "Eyewitness News" staff in 1975; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hill has been a household name and invited into thousands of New
Orleans local homes every weeknight; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hill is a broadcast icon in the New Orleans market; and 
WHEREAS, after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree
in Journalism, Angela immersed herself in the field of television journalism by assuming the
roles of anchor, reporter, producer, and assistant news director at two small television
stations; and
WHEREAS, she quickly gained the kind of multi-faceted experience that was
destined to propel her to the top as one of the industry's most trusted local news
personalities; and
WHEREAS, only months after joining WWL-TV as a consumer reporter, Angela's
natural talent soon earned her a coveted chair behind the station's six and ten o'clock evening
anchor desk where she has become a cornerstone of New Orleans televison broadcasting;
and
WHEREAS, for seven years Angela hosted the popular and critically-acclaimed
"Angela Show", which ran weekday afternoons on WWL-TV highlighting local and national
issues while also showcasing local and national talent in entertainment, business and

WHEREAS, Ms. Hill's career also encompasses in-depth special reports and prime-
time documentaries filed from the world's capitals of London, Paris, Rome, and Beirut, as
well as from locations in China and Africa; and
WHEREAS, while Angela is retiring from nightly newscasts, her interest and skill
in documentaries and special stories will continue as she engages in the production of hour-
long documentaries and special projects for WWL-TV; and
WHEREAS, through her new position, Angela will be allowed much needed family
and personal time while still working to inform the public of newsworthy stories; and
WHEREAS, during her career Angela Hill has garnered numerous local and national
industry awards, being inducted into the New Orleans Broadcasting Hall of Fame, receiving
the Press Club of New Orleans Lifetime Achievement Award, being named a distinguished
member of the Walk of Fame, and a recipient of the Gabriel Award, the Gracie Award and
Freedom Foundation Award; and
WHEREAS, Angela's contributions to the community extends well beyond the
television camera and her profound love of animals and people alike has inspired her to give
countless hours to diverse organizations including being named as the first "Animal
Ambassador" by the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine for her tireless work promoting the
issues of animal welfare.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Angela Hill for her 35 years in broadcasting at WWL New Orleans
and for her outstanding commitment to journalism and service to our state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Angela Hill.
